Privacy Policy
How Remindial collects, uses, and protects your information. We treat the data you share — medication schedules, phone numbers, family contacts — with the same care we’d want for our own families.
Effective Date: April 26, 2026 · Last Updated: April 26, 2026 · Version 1.0
This Privacy Policy describes how Remindial (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use the Remindial mobile application (the “App”). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Phone number. Required to create an account. Used for sign-in via SMS one-time password (OTP) and as the destination for SMS and voice-call reminders you opt into.
- Reminder content. Medication names, dosages, schedules, ride details, appointment titles, locations, recipient phone numbers, voice clips, and notes you create within the App.
- Caregiver information. If you add a caregiver, family member, or partner, we store the name and phone number you enter so the App can send them reminders or alerts you have configured.
- Voice recordings. If you record a custom voice clip for a reminder, the audio file is stored in your account.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device information. Device model, operating system version, and app version, used for crash reporting and compatibility.
- Usage data. Reminder creation events, save events, and adherence actions (taken, skipped, rescheduled). We do not track screen-by-screen analytics or sell usage data.
- Time zone. Your device time zone, used to schedule reminders at the correct local time.
- Push notification token. A device-specific identifier that allows us to deliver push notifications.
1.3 Permissions You Grant
The App requests these device permissions only when needed for the related feature:
| Permission | When requested | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Notifications | After you save your first reminder | Deliver push notifications at reminder times |
| Calendar (read-only) | When you toggle “Sync with Device Calendar” in Settings | Read existing calendar events to surface them as upcoming appointments. We never write to or modify your calendar. |
| Location (when in use) | When you first search for a place in a ride or appointment | Bias location-search results toward your area. Search works without this permission, just less accurately. |
| Contacts | When you tap “Pick from Contacts” while adding a caregiver | Let you select a contact instead of typing the name and phone manually |
| Microphone | When you record a custom voice reminder | Capture the audio clip you record |
You can revoke any of these permissions at any time in your device’s iOS or Android settings.
1.4 Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect or process your device calendar entries beyond reading them for display in the App. Calendar data is not transmitted to our servers.
- We do not collect health or medical data beyond what you voluntarily enter as reminder names and notes (for example, a medication name).
- We do not collect precise GPS location beyond the optional location-search bias described above.
- We do not collect photos, contacts list contents, or files beyond the caregiver entries you explicitly add.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide reminder services (push notifications, SMS, voice calls) at the times you schedule
- Sync your reminders across devices when you sign in
- Send SMS and voice-call reminders only to numbers you have explicitly opted in for, with consent recorded
- Notify caregivers you have added when you choose that option for a specific reminder
- Maintain account security and prevent abuse
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or sale to third parties.
3. SMS and Voice Call Consent
Remindial uses Twilio (and, in India, Message Central) to deliver SMS and automated voice-call reminders. Before any SMS or voice call is sent to you, the App requires your explicit opt-in within the reminder creation flow. Your consent is recorded with a timestamp and stored on our servers.
You may revoke consent at any time:
- For SMS: turn off “SMS Reminders” in Settings, or reply STOP to any Remindial SMS
- For voice calls: turn off “Voice Call Reminders” in Settings
Standard messaging and call rates from your carrier may apply. Remindial does not charge for SMS or voice calls, but your carrier may.
4. How We Share Information
We share information only as described below.
4.1 Service Providers
We use third-party services to operate the App. These providers process your data on our behalf and are contractually required to protect it:
- Supabase — database, authentication, file storage, and serverless functions
- Twilio — SMS delivery (US, Canada) and voice-call delivery (US, Canada, international)
- Message Central — SMS delivery in India
- AWS Polly — text-to-speech generation for voice reminders
- Apple Push Notification Service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notification delivery
- Google Maps Platform — place search, geocoding, and directions
- Vercel — hosting for our website and policy pages
- cron-job.org — scheduled job triggers for reminder dispatch
4.2 People You Designate
If you add a caregiver, partner, or family member to a reminder and enable notification for them, the App sends SMS or voice calls to the phone number you provided. You are responsible for obtaining that person’s permission before adding them.
4.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Remindial, our users, or others.
4.4 No Sale of Personal Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account. When you delete your account:
- Your authentication record is permanently removed
- All reminders, medications, rides, appointments, caregiver entries, and adherence history are deleted
- Pending SMS and voice calls are cancelled
- Voice recordings are deleted
- Consent timestamps are removed
Deletion is irreversible. Some operational logs (for example, error reports without personal identifiers) may be retained for up to 90 days for security and reliability purposes.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including:
- TLS encryption for all data in transit
- Encrypted storage at rest
- Row-level security policies that restrict each user’s data to their own account
- Authentication via phone OTP, with no passwords to compromise
No system is perfectly secure. If we discover a breach affecting your data, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
7. Children’s Privacy
Remindial is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@remindial.com and we will delete it.
If you use Remindial to manage reminders for a child or family member, you are responsible for that person’s information you enter into the App.
8. International Users
Remindial is operated from the United States. If you use the App from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the App, you consent to this transfer.
For users in India, SMS delivery is handled via Message Central and is subject to TRAI DLT registration requirements. Push notifications and on-device voice playback (text-to-speech) are available regardless of SMS DLT status.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights including:
- Access — request a copy of the information we hold about you
- Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate information
- Deletion — delete your account and associated data (available in-app via Profile → Delete Account)
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Withdrawal of consent — turn off SMS or voice consent in Settings at any time
- Object — ask us to stop processing your data for specific purposes
To exercise any right not available in-app, contact us at privacy@remindial.com. We respond to verified requests within 30 days.
10. California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) provide additional rights:
- Right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, and the categories of sources and recipients
- Right to delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing — we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so this right is preserved by design
- Right to limit use of sensitive personal information — we do not use sensitive personal information for purposes other than providing the reminder service you requested
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@remindial.com with your phone number on file. We will verify your identity before processing the request.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date at the top and, if changes are material, present an in-app notice asking you to review and accept the updated policy before continuing to use the App.
